Presidents Message
Guyana Goldfields Inc. continues to significantly expand areas of gold mineralization as well as prospective land holdings. Diamond drilling in the Rory’s Knoll area has demonstrated that this major mineralized zone continues to a depth in excess of 700 meters and remains open.
Highlights of the past year include:
- Grassroots reconnaissance work has identified at least five new areas considered to be highly prospective for the discovery of additional gold mineralization
- 16 new prospecting licenses granted to the Company in the Aurora area
- Initiation of an environmental and social baseline study for the Aurora project
- Completion of several equity financings with proceeds in excess of $20 million
- Establish a relationship with the International Finance Corporation(IFC), the private investment division of the World Bank including a $5.4 million equity fnancing
A very aggressive exploration program at the Aurora properties will continue throughout the year leading to a production decision within eighteen months. The Company will continue to expand its area of influence in this newly recognized gold district and will continue striving to become the regional leader in sustainable mining development.
With this continuing success comes important social and environmental responsibilities. The Company has adopted rigorous codes of conduct pertaining to its exploration work as well as any future commercial operations. It is necessary to ensure that the current and future work of the Company, as well as that of its contractors, conforms to the highest possible environmental and social standards and that the benefits of any future mining operation are spread equitably across all stakeholders.
The Company continues to maintain an excellent health and safety record for its employees. In addition, the Company continues to provide health care for people living in the Aurora region, and continues to support important local and national efforts to improve living standards for the wider community.
Barring any major correction in the price of gold, it is my sincere belief that the future holds great promise for The Company. The continued hard work and dedication of both management and workers, on behalf of all stakeholders, is a crucial component of this continued success.
